ECU Replacement and Repair Are Great Alternatives to Dealerships

What's more fun than spending a beautiful Saturday afternoon driving your Alfa Romeo on a winding mountain road? If you love European cars and want to keep yours in great condition, you should know about ECU repair and replacement. At Specialized ECU Repair, we're your alternative to taking your car to a dealership when it acts up.

European Cars Can Be Expensive to Repair
Dealership diagnostics can be expensive. That's why it's important that you understand the many problems that may be related to a damaged ECU. For example, if your car won't start despite a charged battery, or if your "Check Engine" light remains lit after resetting, you could have a problem with the ECU. Testing, repairing, or exchanging your ECU can save you money and get your car running as it should once again.

Keeping Your Jaguar Running Properly
Jaguar computer replacement is a service that many Jaguar owners swear by. ECUs can suffer from water damage, corrosion, or broken pins, and having your ECU swapped out or repaired can take care of many common Jaguar problems. Jaguar computer replacement is also quick, with a turnaround time of just three to five days, and saves you significantly over the cost of going to a dealer.

Having Your ECU Tested
If you drive a European sports car, but aren't sure whether Alfa Romeo computer replacement will fix your problem, you can have your Alfa Romeo's ECU tested to find out. This is a reasonably priced service that can save you significant money. And if the ECU is found to be damaged, it can be repaired and tested to ensure that repairs were done thoroughly.

ECU Exchange or Repair Reduces Dependence on Your Dealership
When you know you have the option of Alfa Romeo computer replacement, you're less dependent on your dealership and the expensive service it offers. Many common European car malfunctions can be traced to a faulty ECU. Cleaning, repairing, and testing the ECU can get your car running beautifully again without draining your bank account. At Specialized ECU Repair, we are experts at getting ECUs working properly, so you can spend more time enjoying your ride.

Trouble Starting Your Jaguar? It Could Be the ECM

Difficulty starting a car could be due to any number of problems. One possible reason your Jaguar won't start is that its electronic control unit (ECU) has been damaged. If this is the case, Jaguar computer exchange or Jaguar ECU replacement can address the problem and save you money over taking your car back to the dealer. At Specialized ECU Repair, we exchange and repair ECUs from many European cars, including Jaguars.

Finding and Removing Your ECU
If you are interested in having your Jaguar ECU tested, repaired, or exchanged, you first have to remove the ECU on your car. Look for your ECU under a black, plastic cover at the rear of the left side of the engine bay. It is held in by security screws, which you'll have to remove to gain access to the ECU. When sending it in for Jaguar ECU replacement, package it securely with bubble wrap to prevent damage during shipping.

The First Step Is ECU Testing
If you're only interested in finding out whether the ECU is causing your problem, you can elect to have it tested. If the ECU is not faulty, it can be returned to you. If you're in a hurry to get your car running again, you can ask for a Jaguar computer exchange, where your ECU is swapped for one that has been refurbished and thoroughly tested.

Installing a Repaired ECU
If you're uncomfortable with any aspect of ECU reinstallation, have an ASE Certified technician install it for you. Before reinstalling the ECU, ensure the battery is charged over 12V, and the wiring harness and all ground connections are in good condition and secured. Disconnect the negative side of the battery, connect the ECU, and reconnect the negative side of the battery.

Choose an ECU Service That Offers a Warranty
Always choose an ECU repair or exchange service that offers a warranty and that thoroughly tests your repaired ECU before shipping it to you. At Specialized ECU Repair, we proudly offer a five year warranty on ECUs that we repair and on exchange ECUs. Keep your sales invoice and warranty form should your ECU give you trouble under warranty.

Could Your Car's ECU Be Causing Your Running Problems?

Your car's electronic control unit, or ECU, is an important part of the "brains" regulating the systems in your car. When your ECU is malfunctioning, your car may experience a variety of problems - some of which may not be electronic in nature. At Specialized ECU Repair, we can diagnose your ECU and repair it or send you a replacement.

Testing a Car's ECU

There are several ways to tell if your car's ECU is faulty, but the one sure way to find out is through ECU testing. Step one is a visual evaluation of the circuit board for problems like corrosion and burn damage. Testing also involves scanning the ECU memory to check for proper function. The ECU should also be tested with electronic lab equipment that simulates the car engine specifically associated with the ECU.

Tip-Offs to ECU Problems

Various car problems may indicate problems with the ECU. For example, if your "check engine" light never goes off, it could be an ECU problem. If your car won't start and there's no apparent reason for it, your ECU could be damaged. Even poor road performance or a drop in fuel economy can indicate there is a problem with your car's ECU.

European Car ECUs

If you own a European car, you probably know how expensive it can be to take your car in to the dealer. If you own a Jaguar, Jaguar ECU repair may be a more cost-effective solution to your problem. If your ECU is tested and determined to be faulty, the testing service may offer Jaguar ECU repair that costs far less than what a dealer would charge and that gets you back on the road as soon as possible.

The ECU Testing and Repair Service: A Valuable Ally

If you own, or are considering buying a European car, speak with an ECU repair service about what they offer. They may be able to save you a lot of time and trouble when it comes to keeping your car running perfectly. At Specialized ECU Repair, we have a thorough, meticulous ECU testing and repair process that can pinpoint problems and repair them quickly and cost-effectively.

ECU Exchange Can Get Your Car Running Again Quickly and Economically

If your "Check Engine" light remains on after resetting, or if your engine turns off inexplicably, your European car's ECU or DME may be damaged. At Specialized ECU Repair, we diagnose and repair of your ECU or DME, and we also offer ECU and DME exchange service to get your car running again as soon as possible. It's a cost-effective way to test and repair your ECU or DME that you won't find elsewhere.

Common Problems with Damaged ECUs / DMEs

When we test ECUs and DMEs, we often find water damage, evidence of a short fire, broken pins or tracks, or corrosion. You can send in your DME or ECU and have it repaired and returned, or you can use a DME and ECU exchange service where you are sent a rebuilt ECU / DME, after which you then send in your malfunctioning one.

Things You Can Check Before an ECU / DME Exchange

Before sending in your ECU / DME for repair, check the functioning of your car's ignition module, DME or main relay, fuel injection system, spark plugs, idle control, throttle sensor, power supply, and grounds. You can also test your RPM and TDC reference sensors. If these check out OK, then ECU / DME repair or exchange may be your best choice.

Porsche 996 and Boxster ECUs / DMEs Can Now Be Tested

If you drive a Porsche 996 or Boxster and thought that ECU testing wasn't an option, you should know that it is now possible. At Specialized ECU repair, we now have a programmable Porsche ECU tester that works on all 996 and Boxster ECU / DMEs. Getting your car running properly again may end up costing less than you imagine.

Special Considerations for 1995-2004 BMW ECUs

If your dealership says you can't reprogram or swap a used BMW ECU, there is now a solution. Used ECUs can now be reprogrammed using another VIN and resetting the "Rolling Code," which basically makes the unit "virgin" again. When this happens, used ECUs can be exchanged to work in another BMW. You may have more options than you thought.

Save on ECU Replacement for European Import Cars

The engine control unit, or ECU, regulates many of the functions and systems of your car’s engine and other major components. Its functioning is inextricably tied to your car’s performance, and this is especially true of high-end imported European cars. An ECU replacement can be very pricey, especially if you have it done by a dealer. Unlike us, many dealers will charge you a small fortune just for ECU testing. Here’s what you should know about ECU testing, repair and replacement.

Symptoms of a Faulty ECU
One of the most common symptoms of a faulty ECU is a constantly lit check engine light. While there are many reasons the check engine light will remain on, a faulty ECU is one of the most common causes. Many garages will check all sorts of other issues out before they do any ECU testing, so you may have to request it specifically.

Sometimes your car simply won’t start even though everything seems to be in good working order. If the battery, starter and other parts of the electrical system all check out, the problem may be a faulty ECU. A failing ECU can also be the cause of unexplained drops in fuel economy, problems with shifting gears or sudden stopping and jerking. If you’re experiencing transmission problems but everything seems fine with your transmission system, a faulty ECU is a logical suspect.
ECU Testing

ECU repairs on high-end imports can be very expensive at a dealership. Many dealers will charge you $150 to $300 just for ECU testing. If you need an ECU replacement you could be looking at a repair that costs between $1,500 and $5,000. Fortunately, we at Specialized ECU Repair give you other options for ECU testing and ECU replacement.
Online ECU Repair Services

At Specialized ECU Repair, we provide ECU testing, repair and replacement services for a fraction of dealership costs. You simply ship the suspect ECU to us, and then we'll test it.  Then, if possible, we'll repair or reprogram it. If your ECU is not reparable, then we'll help you find you an ECU replacement. If you’re comfortable removing the ECU from your vehicle or can have it removed by a mechanic or dealer, our online ECUreplacement service is a cost-effective alternative to paying dealership prices for testing and repair.

Don’t Give Up on Your Car When an ECU Replacement Could Fix All Your Problems

Today’s high end cars are more and more dependent on computer technology to run properly. The ECU in your vehicle is the central brain of your car, maintaining and managing all of the functions that keep it running the way it’s supposed to run. When your ECU goes bad, it can throw out all sorts of odd symptoms. You could spend thousands of dollars repairing other systems without realizing that the actual problem could be fixed with an ECU repair or ECU replacement. How do you tell whether your ECU needs to be replaced or if it can be repaired?

ECU Repair Specialists
The truth of the matter is that most mechanics are not computer experts. Most will recommend ECU replacement, which can cost you hundreds of dollars, because it’s much simpler than repairing your ECU. There is another option. There are ECU specialists who can examine your ECU, determine whether it can be repaired and either repair your current ECU or supply the proper ECU replacement for your vehicle.

ECU Replacements for BMW, Ferrari and Jaguar
The engine control unit is an essential part of most high-end luxury cars, including Jaguar, BMW and Ferrari. When the ECU fails, it can be difficult for many mechanics to diagnose. Even those who specialize in luxury car repairs would usually rather opt to replace the ECU than to attempt a repair. A firm that specializes in examining and repairing engine control units can determine whether your current ECU is repairable. If it is, they can perform the repair and return the ECU to you at a cost far below what a dealer would charge you to do a full-scale ECU replacement.

ECU Replacement Below Dealer Cost
If the examination detects that the ECU from your high-end luxury car is not repairable, an ECU specialist firm will locate a replacement ECU for your car and quote you a price for the unit that will be considerably below dealer cost.

Don’t give up on your luxury car because the engine control unit has failed. Contact a specialist in ECU replacement and find out what they can do for you.

Stay Diligent About ECU Testing

A luxury car is something that not everyone can afford. Those who can, however, should make sure to take care of their vehicle by bringing it in for regular maintenance and being aware of any changes in its drivability. If there is a change in the way the car runs, it could be an indication that something is wrong and it may need a new part, such as a jaguar computer replacement. What is it and why do you need to know?  Here are facts.

ECU Testing is Important

You need to be diligent about bringing your car in for maintenance if you want it to last for many years. This is especially true if you have a high end car such as a Porsche or Jaguar. Computer replacement or ECU testing may be necessary at some point if you use your car often. The ECU is one of the most important parts of your car and it helps keep everything running optimally. If it is not working correctly, the driver will notice changes in how the car runs. These changes can include the engine turning off for no apparent reason, intermittent starting problems, check engine light staying on even after resetting it, and a long list of other issues.  If this is happening to your car you may need a jaguar computer replacement.

How do I Get ECU Testing?

If your car is showing any of these signs and you’ve decided to get ECU testing, then you’ll be happy to know that you can do it all online.  Even if you need a Jaguar computer replacement, you’ll simply need to follow these steps.

·         Package and ship your ECU component to a qualified ECU online shop.

·         They will test your ECU, and if it can be repaired, they’ll do it and ship it back to you.

·         If you need a new part, they can ship you a new Jaguar computer replacement quickly.
Keep your car in great running shape by paying attention to how it runs.  If you notices any changes, especially the ones listed above, be sure to determine whether or not your need ECU testing.
